About
Growing up in Miami, a city teeming with arts and diversity, with a professional pianist as a grandmother, Tereva has always identified as an artist. She took to the stage for the first time at the age of five as a dancer and was later captivated by the beauty of classical music. She began training as a classical violinist at the age of nine, and went on to perform with artists such as Ricky Martin while attending the prestigious New World School of the Arts. She credits NWSA with giving her the foundation for seeing the arts as a transformative agent that brings freedom, healing, and connectedness to all.
Tereva’s love for being onstage (rather than in the pit) was reignited while performing in a college production of “Once On This Island.” Since then, she has performed and trained with the Dance Theatre of Santa Fe, worked as a Guest Teaching Artist, and was recently 1 of 28 actors chosen to train at and be a part of the BLACK ARTS INSTITUTE, a collaborative intensive between the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Billie Holiday Theatre. Her favorite role thus far has been Bessie (Eclipsed), for which she was awarded “Best Supporting Actor” at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival.
Tereva is also creator of Love ,Tereva, and host of the ‘Love, Tereva’ Podcast, found on Apple Podcasts and Google Play.
